Stephen Miller was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England on 27 May 1980. He was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at birth.

From a young age Stephen played football with his friends. He started doing sport competitively when he went to an after school sports club at Percy Headley Foundation. He tried a number of different sports showing promise at boccia, but moved into athletics with the help of his first coach Norman Burns, winning Gold medal in the Club with a Paralympic Record in 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games aged only 16 years old.

Stephen's acheivement in his chosen event, the Club, is outstanding:

  • 1996 Atlanta Paralympic Games – Gold medal & Paralympic Record
  • 2000 Sydney Paralympic Games – Gold medal & Paralympic Record
  • 2004 Athens Paralympic Games – Gold medal, Paralympic Record & World Record
  • 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games – Silver medal
  • 2010 Paralympic World Cup – Gold medal

Stephen's classification is 32, Cerebral Palsy - severely affected in all 4 limbs seated.

Stephen is hoping for Gold medal no.4 in the Club at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
